3rd May 2022

Since the wave of the lethal Covid-19 is finally diminishing, states are planning to reopen schools and colleges. Children will be going back to school after almost 2 years and the excitement level is overbrimming. However, it is the responsibility of school administrators to create a safe and healthy environment for students.

It is high time for school administrators to strengthen administrative skills so that not a single child faces problems in the school after such a long gap. Therefore, a diploma in educational administration and management course will always help school authorities to polish their skills. A certificate in educational administration and management has a curriculum perfectly designed to helo school authorities upgrade themselves with respect to the educational context.

Key points that school administrators must remember once schools reopen:

Let's talk about the guidelines (according to the Indian Express) that have been set by the government of Kerala regarding the reopening of schools.

  • Conduct classes only on a shift basis- This is essential to avoid mass gatherings because a prime reason for spreading Covid-19 has been the crowd.
  • Only those in the shift must come to school that day- Otherwise, the problem of mass gatherings will never cease to happen.
  • People with symptoms such as fever, cough, shortness of breath, cold, or those on the Covid contact list should not come to school for any reason- Covid-19 is absolutely contagious and these days doctors are saying that it is becoming air-bore. Therefore, the social distance must be mentioned as much as possible.
  • Come to school wearing masks. A double mask or N95 is a must- Double surgical masks are often preferred by people since it is lighter than an N95 mask. Either of these must be followed.
  • Wear the mask properly to cover the mouth and nose- Most of the time, the virus has gotten into the human body through these two openings.
  •  It is best to use a fresh mask after eating- It is because the existing mask is coming in touch with open air.
  • Do not touch your eyes, nose, or mouth without cleaning your hands
  • Care should be taken to keep windows and doors of classrooms open as closed areas can spread.
  • the disease quickly, therefore take a bath as soon as you reach home from school.
  • Study materials, food, and drinking water should not be shared for any reason.
  • Instead of eating together, students should eat at a distance of 2m. Do not talk while eating
  • Crowding should not be allowed in the washroom.
  • Wash hands with soap and water or sanitizer after going to the toilet
  • Equipment that may be used by more than one person should be disinfected after each child’s use
  • The names of staff & children with symptoms should be recorded in the register and monitored regularly

The school authorities of Kerala should always respect these guidelines and follow these to the best extent possible. Reopening schools and colleges is definitely a good idea because kids were getting mentally affected by being at home. Parents, on the other hand, should also be careful of kids while they’re going or coming back from school. School administration should always look up to a certificate in educational administration and management to ensure proper running of the school especially when they are reopening.
